Bradyrhizobium Japonicum
Bradyrhizobium japonicum is a slow-growing, Gram-negative symbiont specialized for soybean (Glycine max). Flavonoid-Nod factor signaling enables root hair infection, infection threads, and nodule organogenesis. In nodules, bacteroids fix N₂ via nitrogenase under leghemoglobin-controlled microaerobiosis; NifA/NifL and O₂-sensing regulate energy-intensive fixation. Field performance commonly supplies 100–200 kg N/ha/season, improving yield, seed protein, and system sustainability while providing residual N to following crops. Use as seed treatments (carrier, soluble, liquid; sometimes film-coat compatible) applied close to sowing; protect from incompatible seed chemistries and high soil mineral N; favor neutral pH, adequate moisture, and warm soils for reliable nodulation.
