Paenibacillus Azotofixans
Paenibacillus azotofixans is a Gram-positive, facultative anaerobe that fixes nitrogen in aerobic soils via respiratory protection of nitrogenase and multiple nif clusters (including alternative forms). Robust endospores support long shelf-life and field stability. As a multifunctional PGPR, it colonizes the rhizosphere, forms EPS-rich biofilms, solubilizes phosphate with organic acids and phosphatases, produces phytohormones (IAA, gibberellins, cytokinins), siderophores, and antimicrobial metabolites, and expresses ACC deaminase to temper stress ethylene. Documented outcomes include reduced mineral-N needs (often 25–40% in INM), improved nutrient uptake and root architecture, yield gains across cereals/vegetables/sugarcane, and enhanced soil structure/microbiome health. Apply via seed, soil drench, or fertigation using carrier, soluble, or liquid formats; avoid chlorinated water and co-tanking with pesticides; time applications to early establishment and moderate temperatures.

Fixes atmospheric nitrogen to reduce fertilizer use by up to 40%.
Improves crop yields by 15–40% through enhanced nutrient uptake.
Stimulates root development for better water and nutrient absorption.
Enhances stress tolerance under drought, salinity, and heat.
Improves soil structure through exopolysaccharide (EPS) and biofilm formation.
Suppresses pathogens such as Fusarium and Rhizoctonia through natural biocontrol mechanisms.
Biological Nitrogen Fixation: Converts N₂ to NH₄⁺ via nitrogenase enzyme complexes, enriching soil nitrogen pools.
Phosphate Solubilization: Produces organic acids and phosphatase enzymes to release insoluble phosphate.
Phytohormone Production: Synthesizes auxins, gibberellins, and cytokinins that promote root and shoot growth.
Siderophore Secretion: Chelates and mobilizes iron while limiting its availability to pathogens.
Biocontrol Activity: Produces HCN, lytic enzymes, and antibiotics that suppress harmful microbes.
ACC Deaminase: Reduces stress-related ethylene in plants, improving resilience under adverse conditions.
Application Method Recommended Dosage Details Recommended
Time to ApplyFrequency of Application In-Furrow
500 g/10,000 sqm or ha
Apply directly into the seed furrow at planting. Ensure soil is moist for optimal microbial survival.
At the time of planting
Once per season
Soil Treatment
500 g/10,000 sqm or ha
Broadcast evenly over the soil and incorporate lightly with tillage or apply via irrigation.
Pre-planting or early vegetative stage
Once at planting; repeat after 4–6 weeks if soil nitrogen is low
Foliar Treatment
750–1000 g/
10,000 sqm or haMix with water (500–1000 liters/ha) and spray during vegetative growth. Promotes endophytic colonization.
During vegetative growth
Once during vegetative stage; repeat after 4 weeks if needed
Seed Treatment
100 g/10,000 sqm or ha (of seeds)
Coat seeds with inoculant using sugar or gum arabic adhesive. Dry under shade before planting.
Just before planting. Ensure seeds are used within 24 hours of coating.
Once per season
